Heavy Lungs don't tiptoe; they crash through the door, a primal scream echoing from the Bristol underground. Their sound, a caustic blend of post-punk fury and noise rock grit, throws elbows in the pit, reminiscent of IDLES' confrontational energy with the angular dissonance of early Sonic Youth. Formed in 2017, the band quickly carved a niche with blistering live shows, earning them a reputation for chaotic intensity. Tracks like "Self-Esteem" and "Blood Brother" became anthems for the disaffected, fuelled by raw emotion and blistering guitar work. While not actively collaborating with other artists in a traditionally publicized way, they've toured with, supported, and been influenced by a wide array of acts like Black Country, New Road and Crows, impacting their evolving sound. Heavy Lungs eschews polished production for a visceral experience, capturing the urgency of modern anxieties. Currently, they continue to tour extensively across the UK and Europe, honing their razor-sharp sound. The next chapter promises an even more uncompromising exploration of societal ills and personal demons, delivered with the sonic force of a demolition derby.
