Enthroned: Three decades of blasphemous sonic warfare etched in fire and brimstone. This Belgian black metal institution, forged in the crucible of the mid-90s, stands as a testament to unwavering dedication to the genre's most extreme tenets. Their sound, a relentless barrage of blast beats, guttural vocals, and tremolo-picked guitars, is rooted in the second-wave black metal tradition of bands like Darkthrone and Mayhem, yet possesses a distinct, almost militaristic precision and a uniquely vile melodic sensibility. Emerging from the ashes of founding member Cernunnos’s previous band, Enthroned quickly established themselves with their debut album, "Prophecies of Pagan Fire," in 1995. Despite lineup changes, including the tragic loss of Cernunnos, the band, led by guitarist Nornagest, has consistently pushed the boundaries of darkness and aggression. Albums like "Towards the Skullthrone of Satan" and "Armoured Bestial Hell" solidified their reputation as purveyors of unadulterated, Satanic black metal. While never courting mainstream appeal, Enthroned’s influence on the underground extreme metal scene is undeniable.
