About

Blawan, born Jamie Roberts, isn’t interested in comfortable techno. He crafts sonic landscapes built from brutalist architecture and industrial decay, a world where rhythm is weaponized and basslines are tectonic shifts. Emerging from the UK’s fertile post-dubstep scene in the early 2010s, Blawan quickly distinguished himself with his uncompromising approach to sound design. His music is a potent cocktail of distorted 909s, mangled samples, and cavernous reverb, drawing heavily from techno, breakbeat, and even hints of jungle’s chaotic energy. Tracks like "Fram" and "Why They Hide Their Bodies Under My Garage?" became underground anthems, solidifying his reputation as a producer unafraid to push boundaries. His collaborative project Karenn, with Pariah, further cemented his innovative streak, showcasing their ability to generate frenetic, hardware-driven techno in real time. Beyond the dance floor, Blawan's work possesses an almost cinematic quality, evoking a sense of dystopian unease. Recent releases on his Ternesc label continue to explore the darker corners of electronic music, showcasing a growing mastery of sound synthesis and a relentless pursuit of sonic innovation. Blawan isn't just making tracks; he's building worlds.
