About

From the industrial sprawl of Marsala, Sicily, to the heart of Kingston, Jamaica, Alberto D’Ascola, better known as Alborosie, forged a unique path, becoming a celebrated figure in the reggae world. Not just another transplant, Alborosie immersed himself in Jamaican culture, mastering patois and absorbing the island's sonic landscape, resulting in a sound that's both authentic and deeply personal. His music is a potent blend of roots reggae, dub, and dancehall, infused with a gritty, streetwise sensibility and an undeniable Italian flair. Alborosie’s career began with the Italian reggae band Reggae National Tickets, but it was his move to Jamaica in the early 2000s that cemented his place. Working as a sound engineer and producer, he honed his skills, eventually releasing his solo debut, "Soul Pirate," which catapulted him to international recognition. Since then, Alborosie has consistently delivered critically acclaimed albums like "Escape from Babylon," "Sound the System," and "Unbreakable: Alborosie Meets the Wailers United," solidifying his reputation as a prolific and innovative artist. Known for his conscious lyrics and uncompromising stance, Alborosie has collaborated with reggae legends like The Wailers, Junior Reid, and Ky-Mani Marley, further validating his position within the Jamaican music scene. Beyond music, Alborosie established himself as a record producer by forming Forward Recordings. Now residing in Kingston, his latest projects continue to push the boundaries of reggae, proving that this Sicilian-Jamaican artist remains a force to be reckoned with.
