About

With their bright red jackets and a sound that’s both primal and meticulously crafted, MEUTE isn't just a marching band; they're a techno powerhouse disguised as one. This Hamburg-based ensemble takes the pulsating rhythms of house and techno, deconstructs them, and rebuilds them using only acoustic instruments – trumpets blasting out synth melodies, trombones mimicking basslines, and drums hammering out the insistent four-on-the-floor beat. MEUTE's journey began in 2015 as an experiment by trumpeter Thomas Burhorn, seeking to translate electronic music's energy into a live, acoustic experience. Their early performances, often impromptu street gigs, quickly garnered attention, spreading virally through social media. Their breakthrough came with their reinterpretations of tracks by artists like Laurent Garnier and Flume, transforming digital compositions into brassy, sweat-soaked spectacles. Beyond the novelty of their instrumentation, MEUTE's impact lies in their ability to bridge the gap between electronic music's club culture and the accessible energy of a marching band. They've cultivated a dedicated following through relentless touring, captivating audiences at festivals worldwide. Their unique approach has led to collaborations with influential electronic artists and cemented their place as innovators. Currently, MEUTE continues to push the boundaries of their sound, crafting original compositions that showcase their virtuosity and redefine the possibilities of acoustic techno.
