Emerging from the vibrant Marseillaise hip-hop scene of the late 90s, Fonky Family, comprised of Le Rat Luciano, Sat l'Artificier, Don Choa, Menzo, Pone (RIP), and DJ Djel, quickly gained notoriety for their uncompromising lyrics and electrifying live performances. Their breakthrough album, "Si Dieu Veut…" (If God Wills...), catapulted them to national recognition, solidifying their place as pivotal figures in French rap history. Fonky Family’s impact extends beyond music. They became voices for the marginalized, articulating the frustrations and aspirations of working-class youth in Marseille. Their collaborations, notably with IAM, further cemented their legacy. After a hiatus, the group reunited, proving their enduring relevance and commitment to their craft.
