Torcha isn’t just making music; he’s sculpting sonic landscapes from the raw materials of Chicago grit and global rhythms. Emerging from the city’s vibrant dance music underground, Torcha blends footwork's frenetic energy with the hypnotic pulse of techno and the ethereal textures of ambient, creating a sound that’s both familiar and utterly alien. His early EPs on labels like Teklife and his own imprint, Juke Bounce Werk, established him as a key figure in the juke revival, but his recent work pushes beyond genre boundaries. He’s less concerned with adhering to a template than with crafting immersive experiences, evidenced by his increasingly experimental live sets and collaborations with artists like RP Boo. What sets Torcha apart is his refusal to be pigeonholed; his music reflects the multifaceted nature of his city and the boundless possibilities of electronic sound.
