BAMBARA aren't just revisiting the gothic grandeur of the American South; they’re dragging it, kicking and screaming, into a crumbling, noise-drenched present. Hailing from Athens, GA, and now based in Brooklyn, the trio carves out a distinct niche within post-punk’s expanding landscape, a sonic terrain where The Birthday Party's ferocity collides with the desolate beauty of early Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds. Their sound, built upon Reid Bateh's snarling vocals and stark narratives, often reminiscent of Cormac McCarthy novels set to music, is intensified by William Brookshire's relentless, angular guitar work and Blaze Bateh's propulsive drumming. Since their formation in the late 2000s, BAMBARA honed their sound through relentless touring and a steady stream of releases. However, 2020’s "Stray" marked a significant turning point, earning them critical acclaim and solidifying their status as a band to watch.
