Formed from the ashes of Operation Ivy, Tim Armstrong and Matt Freeman traded the ska-punk of their past for a harder-edged sound that fused the energy of The Clash with the streetwise narratives of Social Distortion. Rancid’s sound, deeply rooted in classic punk rock, also draws influences from reggae, ska, and Oi!, creating a potent cocktail of anthemic choruses and gritty realism. Their 1995 breakthrough album, "...And Out Come the Wolves," catapulted them into the mainstream without sacrificing their integrity, fueled by instant classics like "Ruby Soho" and "Time Bomb."
